USD Integrated Engineering majors can earn their Master of Science in Engineering Sustainability and Health (MSESH) faster with our combined program!

Up to 12 units of MSESH graduate coursework can count toward both your undergraduate and graduate degree requirements.

Here is how you accelerate your degree:
  • Early (Up to 6 Units)
    • Take the MSESH foundation courses (GENG 350 or ESH 501 and 502).
    • These units count toward both your Bachelor's and Master’s requirements.
  • Accelerate Post-Acceptance (Additional 6 Units):
    • After being accepted into the MSESH program, you can take an additional 6 units of MSESH coursework.
    • These units also count toward both your Bachelor's and Master’s requirements.

Key Aspects of the MSESH Program

The program is offered 100% online and requires students to take two seven-week-long courses each semester, including a culminating capstone course that involves the development and completion of a major project related to the interconnection between sustainability, health, engineering and justice.

The Master of Science in Engineering, Sustainability and Health is a 30-unit project-based program that is designed to be completed in 20 months over five semesters.Through the combined degree program, students take up to 12 units during their undergraduate program, meaning the program can be completed in as little as 12 months.

Requirements of Eligibility

To be considered for the MSESH Combined Degree Program, you must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • 3.0 overall GPA
  • Must be a University of San Diego BS/BA in Engineering (Integrated Engineering) undergraduate student
  • Academic advisor approval is required to be considered for the program
  • Student must complete a total of 12 units of the Engineering, Sustainability and Health program during their undergraduate studies and must complete or be actively enrolled in a total of 6 units prior to applying for the combined degree program
  • Applications are accepted during a student's junior or senior year as an undergraduate (before they graduate)
