The Commuter Commons

Our lockers are available to commuter students for free! We begin the sign-up process during the first week of classes and it runs on a first-come-first-served basis. If you sign-up for a locker you will be provided with a lock that you must return at the end of the school year.

Please be advised that we reserve lockers for traditional undergraduate students only. If you are not a traditional undergraduate commuter student, please contact UC Ops (619-260-8880) to inquire about their lockers, located near the staircases on UC first floor. The cost for their lockers are $15 per semester, you can purchase this at the ticket office located on the second floor of the SLP next to Tu Mercado.

Need to store your lunch in the fridge? Heating up some food? We've got you covered! Feel free to store your lunch in the community refrigerator. Please make sure that all of your food contents are inside your lunch bag for the safety and cleanliness of the community. Make sure to label all of your personal items in the refrigerator and throw away your old food.

Does your USD club or organization want to promote a program? Feel free to bring promotional materials to the Commuter Commons and we will pin it to our board. Ask CAs before pinning anything to the board. We can keep up to 2 flyers (per org) up for about 2 weeks and remove them after the events have passed. Please make sure to provide contact information on your promotional materials so that students can reach you directly with any questions.

Many students like to use the TV area to play video games and take naps on the couches. We use it frequently for karaoke events and it does not have cable so it is primarily a HDMI TV. If you eat food on the couches, make sure to clean any crumbs and leave the space as you found it. We do, on occasion, have presentations that require the use of the television, so we leave signage to reserve the TV. Please be mindful of the reservations! Also, please be sensible of personal space of others and be aware of your own health when coming into the space, wearing a mask when necessary.

Located to the rear of the Commuter Commons we have 1 Mac desktop computer fully equipped with Microsoft suite and Google Chrome. Feel free to use the computer for class assignments, creating marketing content for an on-campus club, or for a quick study session! Conveniently located next to the computer is a whiteboard! Use this to work out difficult math problems or to leave the Commuter Commons some friendly messages :) Our staff makes sure to clean and sanitize all surfaces at the end of the day!

Tecolote Canyon Patio is located directly outside of the Commuter Commons and the Torrero Hub. This space is really an extension of the Commuter Commons and a place to just sit down and relax. There are comfy couches, chairs, tables, a calming water fountain, and a newly installed fire pit, for those chilly fall nights! This is a great place to sit with a good book or hang out with some friends!
