Ian Villalta completed his undergraduate education in psychology at San Diego State University (SDSU) and his graduate training in clinical psychology at Arizona State University (ASU). Before moving back to San Diego, Ian worked at the Clinical Psychology Center at ASU and Phoenix Children's Hospital. Ian's clinical interests focus on helping those with anxiety and mood disorders and also developing culturally-informed treatments for underserved populations. Ian's research examines ethnic health disparities, developmental psychopathology, and the comorbidity of anxiety/mood disorders and substance use disorders. Ian has co-authored articles in peer-reviewed research journals (e.g., Journal of Clinical Child & Adolescent Psychology, Journal of the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, etc.) and book chapters. Ian has been teaching at USD since 2019 and has taught Introductory Psychology (PSYC 101), Research Methods in Psychology (PSYC 230), Behavior Disorders of Childhood (PSYC 354), and Abnormal Psychology (PSYC 355).
