Matthew Boland PhD, teaches courses in clinical psychology and affective science in the Department of Psychological Sciences. He has taught courses on trauma and posttraumatic stress, psychopathology/"abnormal" psychology, motivation and emotion, principles of psychotherapy, and psychology of gender.
Dr. Boland completed a PhD in clinical psychology at the University of Nevada and a clinical research fellowship at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. He has published original research on posttraumatic stress and on multiple forms of emotional regulation for individuals with and without psychological disorders. He is also a licensed clinical psychologist conducting structured assessment and psychotherapy with medical patients, mental health consumers and court litigants.
Dr. Boland has more recently developed a passion for mental health dissemination. He is Founder and CEO of bridge dissemination LLC, a tool that provides research-based information and innovative therapist resources to mental health clinicians. He also provides medical review for international health network websites and is featured in informational videos on topics in mental health as “Dr. Matt B.”
In his spare time, Dr. Boland can be found skiing and hiking around the Sierras, sailing, paddleboarding, trying to become a better surfer or traveling to favorite destinations.
