Psychology at USD prepares the next generation of psychologists to rise above. To learn the behaviors of the brain and then better them.

Learning outcomes

  1. Understand the principles, findings and theories related to human behavior:
    • Conceptual Breadth: Discuss the major concepts, theoretical perspectives and empirical findings in psychology
    • Inquiry and Statistical Analysis: Explain the major methods of inquiry and statistical analysis in psychology
    • Diversity: Describe the ways in which diversity influences psychological processes
  2. Apply critical analysis, research methods and statistical procedures in research:
    • Critical Analysis: Critically analyze existing literature of a topic in psychology
    • Research Design and Statistics: Design research studies, including the application of statistical procedures
    • Written and Oral Communication: Demonstrate written and oral communication skills, especially the ability to write in APA (American Psychological Association) style
    • Application and Social Issues: Articulate how psychological principles can be used to explain social issues, address pressing societal needs and/or inform public policy
