English Internships

The Southeast San Diego Tutoring Program

The Southeast San Diego Tutoring Program offers students the opportunity to intern at a local, low-income elementary school or middle school (K-8), tutoring children in basic reading, writing and math. By devoting time to tutoring and keeping a weekly journal assignment, students earn academic credit and reap the rewards of helping kids.

Students decide the number of hours per week they wish to tutor and the regular tutoring times that fit their schedules (min. 3 hours/week, 30 hours/semester).

Lower Division (Freshman/sophomore with >60 units):

ENGL 292: Section 01 (3 hours/week for 1 academic credit)
ENGL 292: Section 02 (6 hours/week for 2 academic credits)
ENGL 292: Section 03 (9 hours/week for 3 academic credits)

Upper Division:

ENGL 492: Section 01 (3 hours/week for 1 academic credit)
ENGL 492: Section 02 (6 hours/week for 2 academic credits)
ENGL 492: Section 03 (9 hours/week for 3 academic credits)

For more information on the Southeast San Diego Tutoring Program, please email Dr. Timothy Randell at trandell@sandiego.edu.

The Pre-Health Advising Office can help you understand the professional school application process and work with you to design a course of study to prepare you for your chosen health career path.
