The University of San Diego's Passport Program is a requirement for all undergraduate business students. Our Business Student Success team is here to help you fulfill these requirements and ultimately, give you a head start on a rewarding career.
How do you get it done?
Completing your Passport is a requirement for all business majors, so we suggest you start as soon as you declare your major and strive to complete all the requirements by the first semester of your senior year. Here’s what you’ll need to do:
Attend an orientation
Attending a Passport orientation is the first step in fulfilling this requirement.
Attend a Networking Event
Attend at least one USD networking event and provide proof of attendance.
Earn 9 Passport Points
Attend professional-related activities such as career fairs, business panels, seminars, and other similar events.
Check Your Progress
Check your status by logging into the MySanDiego portal and going to the Undergraduate Business page under Torero Hub.
Complete the Graduation Survey
Complete the online USD Senior Exit Survey, which is located on your "Senior" tab in the MySanDiego portal.
Earn nine flexible passport points
How to earn passport points
You’ll need to earn nine Passport Points, which are awarded when you attend professional development-related activities and events (don't forget to check in at each event to claim your points). Pretty easy, right? Here are some ideas of activities that might count toward your nine required Passport Points:
- Attend a workshop at the USD Career Development Center
- Check out potential job opportunities at a career fair
- Shake hands and mingle at a networking event
- Attend a business speaker event or panel discussion outside of class, such as the USD Legacy Entrepreneurship Conference.
- Gain work experience with a not-for-credit internship related to your future career
- Register your internship before you start to make sure it meets NACE criteria
- After your internship ends, submit an internship reflection form. USD’s Career Development Center will review your reflection and determine how many Passport Points you’ll earn.
- Help improve your community with a service project
- Go to an off campus seminar or conference related to your professional development (approval needed first)
Rules and guidelines
- Students are responsible for verifying their attendance at events! This may include signing in at the beginning or end of an event, completing a survey or reflection form. For non-USD events, you must get approval from USD’s Career Development Center before attending.
- Stay on track by checking your progress. Your events and Passport Points total can be found on the UG Business page on the MySanDiego portal (under the Torero Hub tab).*
- *It can take up to two weeks for events and points to be reflected on your portal.
- All Passport events must be approved by the Undergraduate Career Development Center Office.
- Maintain your academic integrity: All members of the University community share the responsibility for maintaining an environment of academic integrity; academic dishonesty is a threat to the University. Acts of academic dishonesty include: a) unauthorized assistance on an examination; b) falsification or invention of data; c) unauthorized collaboration on an academic exercise; d) plagiarism; e) misappropriation of resource materials; f) any unauthorized access of an instructor's files or computer account; or g) any other serious violation of academic integrity as established by the instructor.
