Nichole Wissman-Weber is an assistant professor of management at the University of San Diego School of Business. Her research focuses on how organizations manage interconnected social and environmental problems such as climate change. In her current work, she examines cross-sector collaborative efforts to adapt to climate risk in the northeast coast of the United States. In her secondary areas of inquiry, she broadly studies issues of sustainability by examining contestations over the natural environment, the social construction of risk, and community-based hybrid organizations. Nichole has published her work in the academic journals Organization, Global Strategy Journal, and Sage Business Cases.

Nichole also engages in practice-based work including research for the City of Boston's initiative, Climate Ready Boston, housed in the Sustainable Solutions Lab at the University of Massachusetts Boston. In this capacity, she advised on integrating social equity into cross-sector adaptation activities. Her work contributed to the report, "Financing Climate Resilience: Mobilizing Resources and Incentives to Protect Boston from Climate Risks."

In addition, Nichole has organized and facilitated multi-stakeholder events, consulted for multiple sustainability projects, worked as a certified conflict mediator, and volunteered in international ecological restoration programs.

Areas of Interest

Nichole currently teaches undergraduate courses in strategic management. She has lectured in graduate-level courses on business and society as well as environmental management. Nichole has also previously taught undergraduate courses in organizational behavior.
