Denise Dimon is a professor of economics and for over 20 years, she served as the director of the Ahlers Center for International Business at the Knauss School of Business. Dr. Dimon also served as the University of San Diego's Associate Provost for International Affairs for over 10 years.
At the Knauss School of Business, she founded its international business major and full-time MBA program, as well as international consulting opportunities that resulted in projects for local, national and international companies. She also helped build a strong network of international partners that led to the growth of several impactful initiatives including faculty and student exchanges, double degree programs, joint courses and residential degrees offered outside of the U.S.
She has been a Fulbright Scholar in Argentina and Uruguay; a distinguished visiting professor at the Graduate School of Business Administration and Leadership at Tecnológico de Monterrey (EGADE Campus Monterrey); and a visiting professor at ESC Reims (now NEOMA), France, EM Strasbourg Business School in Strasbourg, France, and EADA in Barcelona, Spain. She has held positions at numerous other institutions as a visiting scholar and consulted for private companies on four continents.
Dr. Dimon has worked with several international organizations on consulting and educational programs including the Academy for Educational Development, Educational Development Center, United Nations Development Programme and the Interamerican Development Bank. She has coordinated consulting projects and executive education programs in Argentina, Brazil, Peru, South Africa, Thailand, China and India in a variety of industries including telecommunications, health care, tourism and manufacturing.
She was selected as ‘Woman of the Year’ by Women in International Trade San Diego (WIT-SD) and recognized as one of the top 25 outstanding women business leaders in San Diego by the San Diego Business Journal. Dr. Dimon served for several years on the Board of Directors for the San Diego World Trade Center. She has twice been recognized with a Steber Professorship from the USD School of Business for outstanding contributions to the school and the university. She also served as the principal investigator for a two-year grant from the U.S. Department of Education for the Ahlers Center to develop additional initiatives in Latin America and Asia. Dr. Dimon has been a very active member of the Business Association of Latin American Studies (BALAS) serving as their executive director for almost 20 years.
