Professor of Practice in Accounting
John Prunty ’84 (BA) brings a wide range of industry experience to the University of San Diego's Knauss School of Business. He started his career in the audit department of Ernst & Young before moving through the ranks at Maxwell Technologies, Gen-Probe, Maxim Pharmaceuticals, where he served as CFO, and Optimer Pharmaceuticals. At Optimer, he was instrumental in taking the company public and in bringing an important drug to market. In addition to his undergraduate degree from USD, he holds a master’s degree from San Diego State University.
