Melina Vosse

Melina Murren Vosse joins the Finance Department at the Knauss School of Business teaching financial management at the undergraduate level. Before joining the USD, she received her PhD at the University of Miami, where she also completed her undergraduate degree in finance. During her graduate studies, Melina taught undergraduate courses in commercial real estate investments and helped develop a graduate-level course in strategic asset management.

Melina’s research centers on retail investment behavior and information environments, aiming to understand how social dynamics and information systems influence investment choices. She is passionate about generating knowledge that can help reduce wealth inequality and is currently focusing on the impact of residential segregation on the financial outcomes of minority households. She is also interested in
understanding psychological biases that can lead investors to make suboptimal investment decisions and how these
biases impact capital markets.

Dr. Vosse is committed to professional service. While at UM, she served as a conference fellow for the University of Miami Behavioral Finance Conference. She also helped organize the Showcasing Women in Finance Conference held by the Academic Female Finance Committee in 2018. In addition, she has served as a referee for The Review of Financial Economics and Corporate Governance: An International Review. Melina also volunteered as a business consultant for the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Minority Business Development Agency, where she helped guide small business owners in understanding their financial statements and obtaining
additional sources of funding.
