Beyster Institute

Realistic Training. Lasting Impact.

Research tells us that nurses have just three minutes to build trust with a patient, and manikins alone can’t replicate that experience. That’s where the Dickinson Nursing Simulation Center (DNSC) comes in.

By combining advanced hospital-grade equipment with trained actors, the center creates realistic clinical scenarios that help students strengthen technical skills, empathy, and confidence, all in a supportive environment with real-time faculty feedback.

The result? Nursing graduates who are ready to lead with both competence and compassion.

Six Primary Care Exam Rooms

In these rooms, students practice everything from taking vital signs and administering IV fluids to conducting comprehensive head-to-toe assessments.

Three Acute Care Hospital Rooms

In these spaces, students learn to respond swiftly and effectively to time-sensitive illnesses and injuries, building the critical thinking and clinical skills needed in fast-paced hospital settings.

Three Debriefing Rooms

Professors use video recordings of simulation sessions to review student performance, offering personalized feedback and guidance to reinforce learning and improve clinical decision-making.

National Accreditation in Healthcare Simulation

The Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) has awarded the Dickinson Nursing Simulation Center accreditation, recognizing that it meets the standards established by the Council for Accreditation of Healthcare Simulation Programs in the area of assessment.
