The Safe Space Allies Network empowers students, staff, and faculty to proactively cultivate a welcoming, respectful, and supportive campus environment for everyone. Safe Space aligns with USD's commitment to human dignity, community solidarity, and inclusion.

Through this interactive, two-part training series, participants build foundational knowledge of gender and sexuality, gain a deeper understanding of diverse lived experiences, and learn practical skills to actively support peers and campus organizations.

  • Part 1: LGBTQ+ 101 – Key concepts and foundational frameworks. (Offered in person; also accessible to employees as a remote, self-paced session through Human Resources).
  • Part 2: Allyship in Action – Scenario-based skill-building and practical application. (Offered in person).

Complete both parts to become a certified Safe Space Ally and join the campus network. Certified allies receive a program decal to display within the university community, providing a visible marker of validation, support, and respect for members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
