Izzy serves as both a Retention Specialist and a Torero Connect Counselor for Student Support Services at USD. In these roles, he offers services and resources on campus to all SSS students throughout their time at the University.
Outside of the office, Izzy enjoys all kinds of sports and appreciates artistic expression in its many forms. As a graduate student, he focused his research on hip hop culture exploring its impact on education and its role in expanding college access for students of color. As a professional he makes an effort to incorporate hip hop practices into his role as a retention specialist.
Izzy strives to be someone students can turn to not only just for guidance, but also for encouragement, understanding, and a sense of belonging. His goal is to create an environment where every student feels seen, heard, and valued.
