At the University of San Diego, we believe that thriving is not just for students, it’s essential for our staff, too. The Thriving Staff Collective (TSC) is a volunteer group made up of staff from across the Division of Student Affairs who are committed to cultivating a workplace culture rooted in care, connection, and growth.
Guided by our Thriving Staff Model, the Collective activates six domains that enrich the staff experience:
- Community Building – Strengthening relationships and creating opportunities for connection across roles and departments.
- Inclusive Excellence – Fostering a culture where everyone feels seen, valued, and empowered.
- Employee Recognition – Highlighting and appreciating the unique contributions of our colleagues.
- Joy – Encouraging moments of fun, celebration, and delight in our shared work.
- Professional Development – Supporting lifelong learning and career growth through meaningful opportunities.
- Wellness – Promoting mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being for all staff.
Stay Connected to the Profession
As part of our commitment to professional development, we encourage staff to explore engagement opportunities through two national associations that support higher education and student affairs professionals:
- NASPA (Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education): https://www.naspa.org/join
- ACPA (American College Personnel Association): https://myacpa.org/join/individual/
USD is an institutional member of both associations. Staff are encouraged to consider joining individually to access a broad range of resources, networking opportunities, and educational content.
