Center for Student Success
The Center for Student Success at USD develops creative approaches to help undergraduates persist to graduation. Through the Student Success Coaching program, professional staff and peer coaches assist students facing challenges and different learning styles, providing support in various areas such as academic resources, study habits, test-taking, time management, and communication with professors.
Dean of Students
The USD Dean of Students area provides service to students as they join our community, live in residence, navigate their first year, seek out resources to support their academic journey, and gain greater insight into their choices and behaviors. Each department within the dean of students area works collaboratively with each other and broadly with the campus community to help address challenges that may impact the student experience.
Disability and Learning Difference Resource Center
The Disability and Learning Difference Resource Center (DLDRC) is dedicated to supporting students with disabilities at the University. They provide academic accommodations, assistance for temporary disabilities, and consultations for the broader university community. The DLDRC aims to raise awareness of disability issues, foster diversity and inclusion dialogues, and promote respect for the unique needs and contributions of all community members, aligning with the university's goals of academic achievement within an inclusive and compassionate environment.
Residential Education
Residential Education at USD focuses on the overall development of students within the residential community. They emphasize a comprehensive living and learning experience, creating a sense of home by fostering meaningful relationships in classrooms, residence halls, and across the larger university community. Committed to inclusivity, they provide purposefully inclusive communities to support personal and academic success. Through living-learning communities, Residential Education integrates learning, engagement, development, and real-world problem-solving, contributing to students' success with student-centered programs, services, and environments.
Office of Ethical Development and Restorative Practices
The Office of Ethical Development and Restorative Practices in Student Affairs oversees the implementation of the Student Code of Rights and Responsibilities. Using Restorative Justice, the office facilitates face-to-face interactions between impacted parties, those responsible, and community members to address difficult situations, repair harm, promote healing and learning, and build community. Through the student conduct process, the office works with students to gain insight into their choices and behaviors, aiming to create a safe campus environment that supports the academic mission and provides a productive living and learning atmosphere. The focus is on fostering students' personal development and enhancing their understanding of both their behavior and responsibilities to the community.
Center for Health and Wellness Promotion
The Center for Health and Wellness Promotion at the University of San Diego offers a wide range of health and wellness promotion initiatives along with clinical alcohol and other drug services. Additionally, students are required to undergo annual education on health-related topics.
Counseling Center
Aligned with USD's philosophy of holistic development, the Counseling Center aims to improve students' emotional, relational, and psychological well-being. They strive to foster personal growth and academic success through accessible and culturally congruent clinical and outreach services. The center collaborates with other wellness departments, university entities, and community partners.
Student Health Center
The USD Student Health Center is committed to offering primary health care that supports both academic and personal growth. They prioritize individual student needs, providing accessible, affordable, and high-quality healthcare. The center offers outpatient medical care for urgent illnesses, minor injuries, preventative measures, and chronic conditions. Specialty services, such as travel medicine and allergy management, are available, and an on-site dispensary provides immediate access to prescribed and over-the-counter medications. A dedicated team, including a physician, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, and registered nurse, is on duty during operating hours to ensure student well-being.
Student Wellness
USD and Student Wellness prioritize offering programs, experiences, and support services to help students maximize their educational experience, fostering the development of knowledge, values, and skills. Student Wellness is dedicated to supporting academic success and personal development through a comprehensive range of wellness programs and services. Notably, all clinical wellness services are available to enrolled USD students free of charge and are kept confidential.
Campus Amenities
USD's diverse departments enhance learning and growth beyond the classroom with nationally recognized programs and innovative services. The dining and hospitality departments cover catering, conferences, dining, and restaurant/pub. Services and retail departments encompass campus card, licensing, mail center, student affairs facilities, torero store, university copy, U.S. bank, vending, and Zipcar, all contributing to high-quality experiences for students and the campus community.
Campus Card
Where commuter students can get their Torero ID Card by uploading a photo online and scheduling a pick-up appointment at the Campus Card office. Other card services provided to students and faculty include the Torero ID card, electric door lock access, gift cards, fundraisers, student advantage, meal plans, passport photos, and U.S. bank services.
Dining Services
USD Dining, a not-for-profit department within Auxiliary Services, serves the campus community and annually reinvests earnings into the University of San Diego and students. Recognized among the best university dining programs nationally, USD Dining offers over 10 locations for the campus community to enjoy.
Hospitality Services
The University of San Diego provides an inspiring venue for various events, including meetings, conferences, retreats, camps, and special events. With assistance in crafting unique and memorable experiences in the beautiful beachside city, USD, ranked as the most beautiful college campus by Princeton Review, offers an exceptional setting.
Mail Center
The mission is to offer the university community prompt, reliable, secure, and economical mail services, facilitating communication and business interactions with students, staff, faculty, and departments.
Torero Store
The USD Torero Store offers everything prospective and current students and their families may need including merchandise, technology, textbooks and supplies, graduation essentials, and helpful services.

The Office of Vice President of Student Affairs is the strategic leadership covering the work of student affairs in its entirety, integrating the evaluation and student feedback of student affairs into purposeful decision-making.
Campus Recreation
Campus Recreation at USD supports student learning by providing active opportunities, fostering leadership skills, building community, and promoting well-being. They are dedicated to maintaining welcoming facilities with compassionate service and offer diverse programs that integrate habits promoting health in mind, body, and spirit. Programs include recreation classes, intramurals, sport clubs, fitness, and outdoor adventures, contributing to a vibrant and de-stressing community experience for both the campus and San Diego community. Fraternity and Sorority Life
The Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) community at USD, comprising around 26% of the undergraduate student body across 17 chapters, emphasizes five core principles: academic growth, leadership potential, changemaking, inclusive community, and well-being. These principles revolve around growth through knowledge, leadership through character, service through civic engagement, belonging through inclusive practices, and health through safety and well-being.
Student Activities and Involvement
Student Activities and Involvement (SAI) at USD aims to provide transformative co-curricular experiences for undergraduates, fostering engagement and leadership development. SAI creates an environment that encourages community, values differences, and promotes positive social change. Overseeing student activities, leadership development, student organizations, and Welcome Week, SAI connects students to over 180 organizations, Associated Student Government, and Torero Program Board. They offer resources for event planning, leadership training, marketing, team building, and involvement opportunities. SAI's Student Learning Objectives focus on leadership and professional development, ethical responsibility, goal setting, and advocacy to enhance student learning and growth through various programs and services.
Black Student Resource Commons
The Black Student Resource Commons (BSRC) aims to boost student success and retention at the University of San Diego by fostering community engagement, facilitating identity development, and providing purposeful programs and services that honor diversity. The focus is on supporting the academic, social, and personal goals of all Black students at USD.
Commuter Commons
The Commuter Commons at USD is a welcoming space designed primarily for traditional undergraduate commuter students. It serves as an on-campus home for entering first-year and transfer commuter students, offering resources and support. The space is managed by student staff, providing a place for studying, socializing, and relaxation between classes. While all commuter students are welcome, the focus is on supporting the unique needs of traditional undergraduate commuter students.
Graduate Student Life
The University of San Diego's Graduate Student Life aligns with the university's mission by fostering community through programs, promoting communication and inclusivity, recognizing the uniqueness of graduate students, and advocating for their needs. This includes providing tangible community-building programs, supporting departmental ideas, maintaining a presence in institutional decisions, and regularly assessing graduate student quality of life on campus. The goal is to assist graduate students in sustaining a healthy and happy life at the university.
LGBTQ+ and Allies Commons
The LGBTQ+ & Allies Commons at USD, established in 2018, emerged from student activism, aiming for increased visibility and support for LGBTQ+ community members. Operated by student coordinators and volunteers, the commons focuses on creating affirming spaces for queer and trans individuals while educating the entire campus community through an anti-oppression framework that is explicitly pro-Black, queer, and feminist. Activities include providing an LGBTQ+ student lounge, hosting identity-specific community groups, and offering educational programs on LGBTQIA+ culture. The initiative aligns with USD's commitment as a contemporary Catholic university to uphold each person's inherent dignity and express solidarity with the Catholic call to care for the whole person.
Military and Veterans Programs
The USD Military & Veterans Program offers student-focused services for all military-connected students, including veterans, active-duty personnel, dependent children, and spouses. The MVP center serves as a welcoming space for studying, mingling, and relaxation. The program supports military-connected students throughout their higher education journey, from initial consideration through enrollment and transition to alumni status. USD MVP enhances academic success and personal growth, emphasizing the value of the military population on campus and countering negative stereotypes. The goal is to help military and veteran students efficiently use their benefits while achieving higher education and career goals at USD.
United Front Multicultural Commons
The United Front Multicultural Commons (UFMC) at the University of San Diego welcomes all, aiming to explore and affirm the unique identity of each person. It fosters an environment where student leaders are empowered to advocate for social justice, building relationships across the university and community. The UFMC serves as an educational resource, challenging prejudice and intolerance while aligning with the university's commitment to being a welcoming, inclusive, and collaborative community that protects the rights and dignity of every individual. The goal is to create an intellectually vibrant, socially just, and inclusive community through dialogue, skill-building, and mutual empowerment.
Women’s Commons
The Women's Commons at USD, in alignment with the Division of Student Affairs' mission, empowers students to find their voice, develop transformational skills, and understand their calling. Operating as a student-centered learning community, it engages all students in educational dialogue around gender-related issues. The Commons advocates for a safe, supportive campus environment that fosters equity among all voices. In an alternative approach, staff and volunteers collaborate around core themes, such as social justice, community, leadership development, education, health and wellness, and safety, to guide the Commons toward its vision.
