The Division of Student Affairs goals are aligned with the University’s strategic plan, Envisioning 2024, which can be found on the Envisioning 2024 website. Below, you will find Student Affairs’ goals from 2017-2021.
- Camino/Founders Renovation, Retrofit, and FF&E (E24 Goal)- Execute the plan for renovating. Retrofitting, and new furniture, fixtures, and equipment for Camino and Founders Halls.

- Enhanced Early Alert Process (E24 Goal 1, 2) - Students experiencing multiple challenges related to student success will be identified and supported proactively.
- Integrated Student Outreach (E24 Goal 1, 2) - Undergraduate students assigned a Torero Connector (~70%) will receive regular proactive outreach and all undergraduates will receive reactive outreach when a faculty member identifies a concern, regarding mid-term deficiency grades, and when a student doesn’t register for the subsequent semester.
- Transfer Evaluation System (E24 Goal 1, 2) - Transfer students will receive an “as accurate as possible” transfer credit evaluation at or near the time of admission and before they are required to deposit.
- Student Onboarding FYE and SYE (E24 Goals 1, 2, 4) - All students will feel that they continuously matter and belong to the USD community from the time they deposit through their experience as an alumnus.
- Camino and Founders Renovation, Retrofit, and FF&E (E24 Goal 4) - Develop a plan for renovating, retrofitting, and new furniture, fixtures, and equipment for Camino and Founders Halls. The plan will include an architectural design focused on program, a cost estimate, and a transition plan focused on the student experience for the time the buildings will be offline.
- Employee Development Plan (E24 Goal 4) - Building on the onboarding series offered in Fall 2019, we will offer all Student Affairs employees the opportunity to further develop their knowledge and skills in working with today’s students through a series of workshops/sessions in Spring 2020. Also, technology in the workplace changes frequently impacting the ability of employees to keep pace with the changes. To assist employees with the rapid changes in technology, a session will be offered multiple times in Spring 2020 to address this challenge.
- Student Affairs Organization Strategic Role Alignment, Phase 2 (E24 Goal) Full-time Student Affairs administrative team members and select staff team members will evaluate their job descriptions to ensure noted job responsibilities are in alignment with Envision 2024 and the Student Success Model. The job description review process will be completed by the end of May 2020, continue annually and during recruitment processes. Where possible job descriptions will support the student experience and Student Success model. As a division, we continue to enhance the use of activity-based teams as a means of supporting the student experience and the Student Success Model.
- Fall 2019 Student Onboarding FYE and SYE (E24 Goals 1, 2, 4) - All students will feel that they continuously matter and belong to the USD community from the time they deposit through their experience as an alumni.

- Auxiliary Service Workplan with Huron (E24 Goal 3) Generate permanent net financial contributions in addition to the current auxiliary services differential.
- Student Affairs Organization Strategic Role Alignment, Phase 2 (E24 Goal 3) (1) Align student affairs job descriptions with the Student Success framework and Co-curricular Learning Outcomes; and where possible align with supporting the student experience. (2) Open The Commons (physical space) and develop priorities for 2018-19.
- Re-imagine the First Two Years - Implement a new approach to supporting student learning and success in the first two years.
- Retention and Graduation - Improve retention rates and six-year graduation rates
- Realign the student affairs organizational structure
