The Nonprofit Institute

About Us

Strengthen the growing field of nonprofits and philanthropy.

Who We Are

Established in 2002, The Nonprofit Institute (NPI) was conceived in recognition of the need to build a rigorous graduate level management program tailored to nonprofit professionals, to support and strengthen the growing field of nonprofits and philanthropy across the San Diego region and beyond. Its founding was inspired by the Jewish values of tze·da·kah and tikkun olam, to do what is right and just in repairing the world. Housed in the School of Leadership and Education Sciences (SOLES), The Institute was designed from its inception to advance the University of San Diego’s (USD) commitment to academic excellence, expanding liberal and professional knowledge and preparing a diverse and inclusive community of leaders who are dedicated to ethical conduct and compassionate service.
