Faculty and donor-funded scholarships

Military Connected Education Benefits
Active duty military members, veterans or military dependents, can access financial aid resource, scholarships and educational benefits toward a degree at USD.
As of August 1, 2022, the Yellow Ribbon Program is now available for active service members and spouses of active service members.
Fulbright opportunities for PhD students
The English Teaching Assistant (ETA) Programs place Fulbrighters in classrooms abroad to provide assistance to the local English teachers. ETAs help teach English language while serving as cultural ambassadors for the U.S. The age and academic level of the students varies by country, ranging from kindergarten to university level. Applicants for ETA Programs can apply to only one country.

Ph.D Research Program in Israel
The United States–Israel Educational Foundation (USIEF), known as Fulbright Israel, plans to award up to 4 grants to PhD students for one semester of research during the 2022/2023 academic year. Fulbright Israel awards are granted on the basis of innovation, academic excellence, the leadership promise of the applicant and their potential to both advance knowledge and enhance mutual understanding between the peoples of the United States and Israel.
This program is designed to provide research opportunities by utilizing local resources as well as gaining international experience. Grantees plan their own projects, which may include an independent library, archival or field research, consultations with local professors or a combination of such activities. Along with opportunities for research and engagement with local resources, this Fulbright Program offers invaluable opportunities to meet and work with the local professionals and experts of the host country, sharing daily life as well as professional and creative experiences.
The Australian-American Fulbright Commission is pleased to offer the Fulbright Future Scholarships. This unique opportunity provides significant funding for projects that seek to have a positive impact on the health, prosperity and livelihoods of Americans and Australians.
- Can apply to conduct research towards a U.S. PhD program or as an independent research project (6 – 10 months)
- All applicants are required to include a letter of invitation from their proposed institution with their application (except postgraduate students seeking to complete an Australian master’s or PhD program)
