DEPARTMENT OF LEADERSHIP STUDIES

Trauma Awareness, Resilience and Restorative Approaches

Overview

This certificate is the first of its kind at the University of San Diego, bringing together expertise from the School of Leadership and Education Sciences and the Kroc School of Peace Studies.

This certificate is designed for graduate students interested in:

  • the awareness of stress and emotional conflict
  • how past trauma can influence current relationships

This 9-unit interdisciplinary Graduate Certificate in Trauma Awareness, Resilience and Restorative Approaches brings together professionals across multiple sectors to deepen their expertise in these frameworks. The program prepares students to lead reflective, proactive, and supportive interventions for the diverse populations they serve.

We value and provide a culturally competent and culturally responsive focused curriculum that promotes equity, diversity, inclusion as well as social justice in all courses.

We value and use assets based trauma-informed practices that are learned as an interdisciplinary model by integrating learning and teaching and leadership theories and models to better support culturally and linguistically diverse populations and their families.
