The School of Leadership and Education Sciences (SOLES) at the University of San Diego offers nine master's degree programs spanning counseling and therapy, leadership and teaching. Each prepares you for work that is as meaningful as it is challenging. Whether you're pursuing licensure as a therapist, a credential to lead in the classroom or the skills to drive change in organizations and communities, you'll find a program grounded in SOLES' commitment to values-driven, evidence-based practice.

SOLES offers nine master’s degree programs across the departments of Learning and Teaching, Counseling and Marital and Family Therapy and Leadership Studies.
Knowledge in Action
At SOLES, master’s study blends theory and practice. Students engage with the challenges they’ll face on the job, apply evidence-based approaches, and develop the skills to make lasting contributions in their fields.
For students in the Counseling and Marital and Family Therapy programs, that connection takes a structured form with practicums that place them in supervised professional settings to develop the competencies their future careers require.
For students in the Department of Learning and Teaching, the connection takes shape through direct classroom experience. Those pursuing a credential through the MAT in Curriculum and Instruction student teach in both general and special education settings, while students in the Academy of Catholic Teaching teach in a local Catholic school as an integrated part of their program. Teacher Residency students go even further, completing a full school year of clinical teaching experience alongside a mentor teacher.
