Because of BiGI’s focus on remedying disproportionality, if other non-Black members in the community face similar barriers to academic success, and have documented experiences of significant disproportionality, the BiGI program welcomes their applications too. This applies to non-Black youth of all races.

While the program remains focused on Black student problems and solutions to such problems, BiGI could benefit a variety of students, including those who—regardless of their race—are also frequently disproportionately represented in rates of suspensions, expulsion, chronic absenteeism, gifted program enrollment, high school graduation, college matriculation, college graduation, law enforcement referrals, and special education referrals.

Working directly with students to impact and elevate their educational attainment and engagement, our team will provide training to education professionals in neuroscience, neurobiology, trauma, and mindfulness to better educate ALL students, including those with learning differences, such as dyslexia, ADD, ADHD, trauma, and autism.
