For a preview of what to expect, please view our schedule from 2025:
| Exploring Opportunities: International Study Abroad and Career Development |
Parent and Family Orientation begins with our popular panel on International Study Abroad and Career Development (CDev). Hear from top administrators about exciting opportunities for students to live and study in over 30 countries, engage in research and internships and how they can gain career skills outside of the classroom. |
| Taking Care of Business: Financial Aid and Other Student Transactions | Have you covered all the transactional details? In this session, the Torero Hub will dive into essential topics like financial aid, paying your bill and other important updates. An overview will be provided on what to expect in the coming year to inform you about critical financial and administrative processes. |
| From Caretaker to Coach: Supporting Your Student | While your student is at their mandatory community meeting, join campus administrators to explore college scenarios and discover how to effectively support your student's growth and independence as a coach. This session will offer valuable insights and strategies for guiding your student through their college journey. |
| New Student and Family Welcome | Celebrate the start of OLÉ Weekend with us! This kick-off event will unite students, parents and supporters for an inspiring welcome. Hear from President James T. Harris, student leaders and administrators. Then, get in the Torero spirit for the football game versus Cal Poly that follows. |
| Mass of Welcome | This tradition is a highlight of move-in weekend each year. Students and families of all faith traditions are welcome to this beautiful ceremony, which concludes with a special blessing to wish students well in their new chapter at USD. Tissues are included! |
| Torero Resource Fair | Get to know a range of campus resources available to you. Learn more, ask questions and enjoy pizza and salad while connecting with new USD students, families and administrators. This will be your final opportunity to spend time with your student before they continue with their orientation events. This will be your final event with your student and your chance to say farewell until Homecoming and Family Weekend. |
