Knauss School of Business Employees Recognized at USD Diversity and Inclusion Impact Awards

Alison Sanchez and April Cash, employees of the Knauss School of Business were recipients of the University of San Diego’s Diversity and Inclusion Impact Awards. They were honored at a luncheon hosted by the Center for Inclusion and Diversity, along with 10 other university employees for demonstrating "sustained commitment to justice for communities historically marginalized for their race and ethnicity.” 

Alison Sanchez is an assistant professor of economics and business analytics recognized for integrating diversity and inclusivity in the classroom — by utilizing data sets in her analytics classes that highlight the structural inequities in society as well as systematically marginalized communities — and in her research, in which three of her most recent publications addressed racial disparities in health care and home purchasing. Professor Sanchez is also a champion for DEI at the Knauss School of Business where she served as one of five faculty on the Diversity2024 committee. In the past year, the committee has worked to completely retool the hiring process for faculty, making it more equitable and ensuring a greater pool of diverse applicants.

April Cash is a student professional development manager recognized for her work in advocating for gender equality in business and on campus. April serves as the founding advisor for the student organization, Women in Business. Under her guidance, the club received the Excellence in Inclusion Award last year at USD's Student Activities and Involvement awards. And April herself was honored as Advisor of the Year.
