USD 2.0: New Knauss School of Business Website Launches

The University of San Diego’s Knauss School of Business is the latest academic website to launch as part of USD’s online presence. The all-new website launched on Wednesday, February 22.
Like many of our previous redesigns, there are both virtual and physical changes associated with the milestone. Over the past few years, USD Board Chairman Don Knauss, the former CEO of Clorox, and his wife, Ellie increased their philanthropic giving to the university to $50 million to help fund construction of a new facility for the school. In honor of the gift — one of the largest in USD history — the business school was named the Knauss School of Business and the new building, known as the Knauss Center for Business Education, officially opened in August 2022. The new facility and the many student resources and spaces created as a result of this generosity are featured prominently throughout the new site.
The school’s new virtual presence also mirrors the growth and changing landscape of its programs, departments and centers, which have been rapidly evolving over the past few years. The Knauss School of Business features both undergraduate and graduate opportunities for students, all of which are now accessible and comparable through the site’s academic portal. Pages within this section feature a content explorer for programs, allowing students to quickly navigate to programs of interest for information and comparison.
The centers and institutes continue to be a point of pride for the Knauss School, where subsites for the Accountancy Institute, the Ahlers Center for International Business, the Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate, the Free Enterprise Institute and the Supply Chain Management Institute have been redesigned and rebuilt from the ground up.
Admission, financial aid information and application questions have been centralized into a graduate admission hub, aiming to provide information in a more streamlined and efficient manner. On the old website, these resources and frequently asked questions were spread throughout various pages and not easy to find or access.
The design and build of the new website spanned over a year, including a usability study with prospective and current business students, ensuring that decisions about content, layout and design were made with the user in mind.
Content throughout the site has been refreshed to ensure that information is current and easier to find. New audience pages have been added with links, media and other resources catered specifically for their use. New functionality and content features have also been added.
The USD 2.0 project continues with a new website for the School of Law, likely launching in 2024, and with a new Information Technology Services website, earmarked for launch in April 2023. Of the 150 sites in the USD web ecosystem, 148 are now transitioned into the new 2.0 framework, marking our progress at nearly 99% of our completion goal.
New and enhanced features are in our development pipeline, including an improved navigation structure and, further down the line, a new MyPostings news and events system.
Updates continue to be added to Camino, USD’s digital design system, and are tracked and announced via a changelog. If you maintain a website within the new system, be sure to bookmark the link and stay updated on new and exciting enhancements available to you.
