2026 Undergraduate Commencement Ceremonies

Due to a record number of eligible graduates choosing to participate from both the Knauss School of Business and SMSE, USD is splitting the ceremonies to provide a better experience for our graduates and their families. The commencement ceremony exclusively for SMSE undergraduates will be held in the Jenny Craig Pavilion:

• New Date: Saturday, May 23, 2026

• New Time: 1:00 p.m.

While we recognize that a schedule change of this nature can create unintended logistical challenges for you and your families, this shift also offers several significant benefits:

• A Tailored, Engineering-Focused Celebration: This shift allows us to focus exclusively on our SMSE community. You will have the opportunity to celebrate this milestone alongside your engineering peers in a more personalized ceremony.

• Unlimited Guest Attendance: Moving to a dedicated ceremony will eliminate the need for guest capacity restrictions for the SMSE ceremony. We are thrilled to announce there will be no limit on the number of guests you can invite to witness your graduation. 

• A Streamlined Experience: A dedicated SMSE ceremony will be significantly shorter, giving you more time to celebrate with your loved ones immediately following the event.
