Commencement Eligibility
If you have questions about completing your petition to graduate or your eligibility to graduate, undergraduate students can email registrar@sandiego.edu for additional information.
Ceremony Registration
Commencement registration is now closed. For questions, or should you require any special accommodations to participate in your ceremony, please email commencement@sandiego.edu.
Additional Undergraduate Information
Registered graduates will receive an email by the Monday prior to your ceremony providing notification that tickets are ready to download. To Access Your Tickets:
- Visit commencement.sandiego.edu
- Click the “University of San Diego Log-In” button.
- Once you log in, you should automatically be redirected to your “My Page” where you will see two buttons to download graduate and guest tickets. If you are not automatically directed to that page after you log in, please click the menu button in the top left corner and then select “My Page”.
- Please download all available guest tickets on your account (if applicable), along with your graduate ticket.
Graduate Ticket
Please bring a printed copy of your graduate ticket. This ticket is also your name card and needs to be with you at all times during the ceremony.
Guest Tickets for Knauss School of Business and College of Arts and Sciences Undergraduate Ceremonies
If you requested guest tickets for Commencement, you will need to distribute their tickets. Since all tickets are attached to your student account, your guests will not be able to access the tickets on their own. Both printed tickets and electronic guest tickets (displayed on a mobile device) will be accepted. NOTE: Each guest ticket has a unique QR code and can only be scanned once at the door of the Jenny Craig Pavilion. Graduates are welcome to share their unused guest tickets with fellow class members. Tickets provide general admission and are valid only for the ceremony date/time stated on the ticket.
Overflow Seating for Knauss School of Business and College of Arts and Sciences Undergraduate Ceremonies
Limited overflow seating to watch the ceremony live stream will be available in the UC Forums. Seating is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Only guests with a valid guest commencement ticket will be allowed entry into the Jenny Craig Pavilion. All other guests will be directed to overflow seating in the UC Forums.
Knauss School of Business and College of Arts and Sciences GRADUATES should arrive 60-90 minutes before the ceremony.
Shiley-Marcos School of Engineering GRADUATES should arrive 60 minutes before the ceremony.
All graduates, please bring a printed copy of your graduate ticket.
- Commencement ceremonies are approximately two hours in length. There is no rehearsal for commencement ceremonies.
- Graduates should leave valuables such as purses and keys with family members or guests.
- Graduates should arrive dressed in cap and gown and proceed to the Graduate Entrance located behind the Jenny Craig Pavilion, by the loading dock and entrance to Fowler Park. Upon arrival, your ticket will be scanned at the security checkpoint before being directed to line-up for the processional.
- Once in the graduate area, look for the sign with your School/Department name and head in that direction. Candidate marshals will be standing by to assist you.
- During the ceremony, a candidate marshal will direct graduates to the platform when it is time to proceed across the stage.
- Grad Images will take a photo of each graduate on stage and email a photo proof to you. You can view your proof online within two business days at GradImages.com. You are not required to purchase photos and your personal information will not be sold.
- At the conclusion of the ceremony, please follow the guidance of the candidate marshals on how to recess out of the arena.
Parking can be found on-campus in the Main Parking Structure (MS) and West Parking Structure (WS). Parking is complimentary everywhere on campus for each day of the ceremonies, May 22 to May 24. Follow signs and safety/traffic personnel to the best available parking upon arrival. ADA placards should be clearly visible for officers to provide direction to the appropriate parking area. USD buses and ADA Shuttles will be available to move guests efficiently to the ticketed guest entrance for the event.
Rideshare drop-off and pick-up is located in the Vistas Lot which is west of the Main Entrance on Linda Vista Road.
If needed, parking will also be available at the San Diego County Office of Education (6401 Linda Vista Rd.) parking lot. Buses will pick up and drop off guests at this location.

Every graduate is required to be dressed in cap and gown at Commencement. For those who have not received regalia, you may visit the Torero Store an hour and a half before the ceremony to purchase a cap and gown. Supplies will be limited.
All ceremony gowns must be fully zipped in order to participate in the ceremony on stage. You may decorate the top of your cap to commemorate the celebratory nature of the occasion. Cap decorations cannot obstruct the view of others. Candidate marshals reserve the right to remove and confiscate any decorations deemed offensive or inappropriate.
In accordance with the 2025-2026 Undergraduate Catalog, students of outstanding academic merit receive special honors at graduation. Eligibility for these special honors is based upon USD GPA:
- for summa cum laude, 3.90 or higher
- for magna cum laude, 3.70 to 3.89
- for cum laude 3.50 to 3.69
Latin honors are not official until after grades are final and any Latin honors earned will appear on the diploma.
Grad Images Photography takes photographs of each graduate on stage during the commencement ceremonies. Graduates are sent proofs of the photographs via email and/or text after the event. Proofs will also be sent via postal mail. You will have the opportunity to purchase prints after you have seen your proofs. The campus community is excited to celebrate the Commencement of the Class of 2026.
This is an opportunity to recognize your hard-earned accomplishments. Please respect the Commencement ceremony as a space of celebration and inclusion. Participation is guided by the USD Student Code of Conduct.
A few reminders will ensure a safe and celebratory event:
On Stage
- Individuals should refrain from approaching the stage until they are directed to do so. Anyone approaching the stage at any other time during the ceremony will be escorted out of the building by staff members.
- Please ensure robes are fully zipped prior to crossing the stage. Staff will be on hand to check and assist as needed.
- Enjoy your moment to cross the stage and receive your diploma cover. Please do not stop or linger on stage in order to keep the procession moving.
In the Audience
- Please be respectful of your fellow graduates and keep noise levels to a minimum so names can be clearly heard by those in attendance.
- For the safety of everyone in attendance and to ensure the best possible viewing experience, no flags, banners, signs or oversized objects are permitted in the Jenny Craig Pavilion. Any object impeding the ceremony or experience for others will be confiscated by staff members. Please see below for a full list of prohibited items.
- Adherence to the University of San Diego's alcohol policy will be strictly enforced. No alcoholic beverages of any kind are permitted to be brought onto campus or into the Jenny Craig Pavilion.
Prohibited Items
For the safety of everyone in attendance and to ensure the best viewing experience, the following items are prohibited:
- Aerosols, mace or pepper spray
- Animals, or assistance animals, except for service dogs, specifically trained to assist a person with a disability
- Bags or backpacks larger than 12" x 12" x 20"
- Balloons and any other floating items that may block the view of others
- Banners, flags, signs, placards or any other object that may block the view of others
- Coolers
- Explosives
- Fireworks
- Knives (regardless of size)
- Large golf umbrellas and long pole objects
- Laser lights and laser pointers
- Noisemakers, such as air horns, whistles or drums
- Plastic replica of weapons
- Portable or folding chairs
- Sharp and/or pointed objects, scissors or knitting needles
- Tripods for cameras
- Voice-enhancement devices such as bullhorns
- Weapons
