Con Cariño Service Ministry

True joy is born from encounter, from the relationship with others. We must create a 'culture of encounter,'a culture of friendship, a culture in which we find brothers and sisters. They all have something in common with us: they are images of God.
―Pope Francis
Cassandra Cyphers '19 shares some of what she's learned from volunteering at Rachel's Night Shelter, a program for homeless women sponsored by Catholic Charities.

Engage in communities with food and with love

Con Cariño Dinner Trips

Eight times in the semester, USD students and University Ministry staff prepare and share dinner with residents at Rachel’s Night Shelter and migrants at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish. Volunteers sitting down for a meal with our community's most marginalized is an invitation into encounter, as we each learn more about each other and ourselves.
