We are proud to share that USD McNair alumni hold 47 doctoral degrees, 10 professional doctoral degrees, and 131 masters degrees, and a 69% degree attainment rate. We welcome your application to the USD TRIO Ronald E. McNair Scholars Program, which is funded by the U.S. Department of Education and the University of San Diego. As a McNair Scholar, you will become part of an elite group of students who participate in professional development and academic research training.

Application process:

• Submit online application form including statement of interest and copy of (parent’s taxes if dependent) most recent tax form.
  • Statement of Interest: Please upload a statement that is no longer than 500 words. You should address the following items in your statement.
    • What is your motivation for applying to graduate school?
    • Briefly describe your education and career goals, and explain how participation in the McNair Program is relevant to these goals.
    • What field of research are you interested in pursuing?
  • Tax Forms: Please upload a copy of your most recent tax forms. If you are listed as a dependent student with the Office of Financial Aid, submit a copy of your parent’s most recent tax form.
• Following the submission of your online application, a McNair staff member will contact you to establish eligibility.

  • Recommenders may submit either the provided form or a traditional letter of recommendation
