VoiceThread is an external tool available in Canvas that allows you and your students to create slides-based presentations with media and voice comments.
Adding VoiceThread to Your Canvas Course
Adding VoiceThread to a Module:
- Navigate to the Modules area of your course.
- Click on "+" in the relevant module.
- Select "External Tool" from the drop-down menu.
- Select "VoiceThread" from the list of tools. This will take you to the VoiceThread Setup page. View this VoiceThread guide for how to set up activities.
- Once you have set up the activity in VoiceThread, you will be redirected to Canvas. Click on the "Add Item" button in the External Tool window. You will now see the VoiceThread activity at the bottom of your module.
Creating a VoiceThread assignment:
- Navigate to the Assignments area of your course.
- Click on "+ Assignment" to create a new assignment.
- Give the assignment a name. You can add instructions in the text box now or at a later time.
- Under Submission Type, select "External Tool" and click on the "Find" button.
- Click on "VoiceThread". This will take you to the VoiceThread Setup page. View this VoiceThread guide for how to set up activities.
- Once you have set up the activity in VoiceThread, you will be redirected to Canvas. Click on the "Select" button in the External Tool window. You can now finish adding assignment settings and then select "Save" or "Save & Publish".
