Eligibility Requirements
Make sure you are eligible for the program by checking the Eligibility Requirements on the program page, including GPA and any required prerequisites.
Study Abroad 101 Session
Attend an in-person general information session or watch the virtual Study Abroad 101 to learn about the study abroad process.
Academic Advisor
Students should meet with their academic advisor before making decisions about where and when to study abroad. Academic advisor will be able to assist students in determining the type of courses needed while abroad, the term that might be best to go abroad based on your graduation requirements and current schedule.

Apply
To apply for a study abroad program, click on the “Apply Now” button located on the program page. Follow the instructions to create a profile by logging in with USD MySanDiego login and password.
Complete Application
- Application: Be sure to submit by the deadline listed in your portal.
- Additional Forms: After submitting, you may need to complete additional forms depending on your program. You will be notified of additional requirements both by email and in your portal.
You can only apply to two programs per term. Please keep in mind that you are responsible for meeting application deadlines. Please read and follow all instructions carefully. Every item listed on your applicant home page is necessary in order for your application to be complete.
Deadlines are firm and you must submit all pre-decision application pieces in order for your application to be reviewed. To see if you have submitted all necessary documents, review the checklist on your homepage.
Updates
After you have completed the application, check your portal and USD e-mail on a regular basis for reminders of items that you have not yet submitted. If you have questions, please contact an International Studies Abroad Advisor.
Program Acceptance and Commitment
Students are accepted to study abroad programs on a rolling basis. The Program Acceptance and Commitment Policy outlines this process and implications. Students are held accountable to this timeline.
As your application moves through the Enrollment Process, additional requirements will post to your study abroad portal, which must be completed by the indicated deadlines. Students should not purchase their flight until notified to do so by their study abroad advisor.
Once your application has been moved to Conditionally Approved:
- Complete additional application items posted to the portal
- Attend pre-departure meeting (scheduled by the study abroad program advisor)
- Read and become familiar with the Enrollment Process.
