Sahmie Wytewa joins Center for Inclusion and Diversity

The Office of the Tribal Liaison (OTL) is dedicated to the educational success and supporting the needs of Native American students by providing academic and cultural resources:

  • Outreach, recruitment, and retention of Native American and Indigenous students
  • Our office is committed to cultivating an inclusive community for USD’s Native American and Indigenous student.
  • The Office of Tribal Liaison (OTL) works to strengthen community engagement with local Native tribal communities to share cultural knowledge and spread awareness about Native American issues. The OTL is focused on fostering enriching opportunities that promote the holistic development and success for Native and Indigenous students as they pursue their higher education and career goals.

Brief History
  • Piloted (2012-2014)
  • Institutionalized in 2014
  • The Alumni Association’s Native Alumni Affinity Group was founded in November 2018 during Native American Heritage Month
  • On September 1, 2022, Sahmie S. Wytewa assumed the role of Tribal Liaison for the Center for Cultural Development.
