Spring 2021 New First-Year & Transfer Students

Welcome, Spring 2021 New Toreros!

As part of the University of San Diego’s commitment to the well-being of our students and to creating a diverse and welcoming community, all first-year and transfer students are required to complete an online education course series which includes the following three courses:

  • Diversity Equity and Inclusion for Students
  • AlcoholEdu for College
  • Sexual Assault Prevention for Undergraduates

These interactive, two-part courses are designed to help you think about how you will contribute to a welcoming and thriving community. Together, these courses will empower you to make well-informed decisions and to know how to support yourself and your peers.

Please note the following important course dates:

Part 1 for each course must be completed by: January 22, 2021
Part 2, a 45-day follow-up to each course, must be completed by: March 8, 2021
*Extended Deadline: Please know the Part 1 deadline for each course has been extended to April 19, 2021. Part 1 for both courses must be completed by this time. The Part 2 deadline is therefore extended to June 3, 2021. You will receive an invitation through your USD email to complete Part 2 for each course, 45 days after each individual Part 1 course completion.
After 45 days from each individual Part 1 course completion, you will receive an invitation through your USD email to complete Part 2, which must be completed by April 5, 2021.
We will be tracking course progress to ensure all first-year, transfer, and exchange students have complied with this educational requirement. While we don’t expect this to be an issue, it is important that you ensure your compliance by completing Part 1 and Part 2 for both courses by the noted deadlines. The course may include suveys to help personalize your experience and measure participants’ attitudes and behaviors. All survey responses are confidential; the school will only receive information about the participant group as a whole and will never see individual answers.
IMPORTANT NOTE: A $250 non-compliance fee will be assessed directly to students who do not fully comply with course requirements within the indicated deadlines. This is a non-negotiable non-compliance fee that will be assessed directly to your Student Account.
*Please note that you will see an additional course assigned to you in the platform titled Mental Well-being for Students. Mental Well-being for Students is a course that is available to all students as an optional resource to utilize. This course equips participants with essential skills and information to navigate some of the primary stressors and emotional challenges associated with college life. There is no requirement to participate in this course. We simply encourage participation as a strategy to strengthen your self-care and resilience during this time. You can find additional information about this course at sandiego.edu/health-wellness/resources/mental-wellbeing-students.
