When a student is seen by a Student Health Center (SHC) medical provider, they may be prescribed a medication. This prescription may be filled at our onsite dispensary, at nonprofit rates. Our onsite dispensary is limited to commonly used medications and medical supplies that can be acquired at a cost savings to the student. The SHC does not bill insurance, and the student is responsible for the cost of the medication.
If the SHC does not have the prescribed medication, or the student prefers to take the prescription to a pharmacy off-campus and use their insurance, students have several nearby options. The SHC cannot dispense medications ordered by off-campus prescribers.
Mail Service Pharmacies provide home delivery for maintenance or ongoing medications. Maintenance medications are usually taken daily for diabetes, asthma, thyroid, contraception, or other conditions. Medicine like these can be delivered directly to your home or off campus, and you can get up to a 90-day supply. Call the number on the back of your insurance card to see how to get started with your insurance carrier’s Mail Service Pharmacy. Aetna Student Health members can visit CVS Caremark Mail Service Pharmacy for further information and instructions.
