Donate Cryptocurrency to USD

Making a cryptocurrency donation to support USD enables us to educate Changemakers to meet the world's toughest challenges. Your gift provides critical scholarship support to today's Toreros as they pursue their academic goals.

Support the University of San Diego by making a charitable gift in cryptocurrency. We accept donations in Bitcoin, Ethereum, and over 100 additional leading cryptocurrencies found in the drop down to the left.

How can I donate cryptocurrency?

Donating crypto is safe, easy, and fast. Using the widget to the left, making a charitable gift is a quick three-stop proces:

  1. Select your preferred crypto and enter your gift amount. (The "Donation Notes" field is where you can designate the area on campus you'd like to support)
  2. Type in your email and basic info (or choose to give anonymously)
  3. Make your gift!

Why does USD accept cryptocurrency?

Crypto Philanthropy is a new and thrilling fundraising avenue for nonprofit organizations like USD. With more than 300 million crypto users worldwide and the value of many cryptocurrencies rising, the crypto community is in a position to make a wide-reaching impact through philanthropy. Donating crypto is also one of the most tax-efficient ways for individuals to support causes that matter to them. We are excited about what the future holds in the crypto and blockchain space, and believe that we’ve just scratched the surface of its true fundraising potential.

Are crypto donations tax-deductible?

Yes! Crypto donations are one of the most tax-efficient ways to give to charity. Your crypto donation is tax-deductible to the fullest extent permitted by law if you pay taxes in the U.S. By making a charitable gift, you may also be eligible to significantly reduce what you would otherwise owe in capital gains taxes.

Gift Acceptance Policies

  • In accordance with USD's Gift Acceptance Policy, all contributions of cryptocurrency are converted to cash immediately upon acceptance cannot be refunded for any reason.
  • While we are happy to honor requests for anonymity, USD requires that all donors identify themselves when making a charitable contribution.
