Xiomara Pastenes Garcia joined the College of Arts and Sciences Dean’s Office as Executive Assistant, bringing over ten years of experience in arts administration and community engagement. Before joining USD, she worked with the La Jolla Music Society, San Diego Opera, and San Diego Symphony, where she collaborated with students in the San Diego Unified School District to promote music education and cultural access.
Outside of work, Xiomara is an active mariachi violinist with a passion for sharing music and Mexican heritage. Her performances, including unforgettable experiences in Finland and Japan, have shaped her collaborative spirit and commitment to cultural connection.
She holds a B.A. in Integrated Marketing Communications and enjoys blending creativity with strategic communication to support the arts and education. At USD, she values the opportunity to connect with colleagues across departments and contribute to a collaborative, mission-driven environment.
