- Odilka Santiago is an Assistant Professor at the University of San Diego in the Department of Sociology. She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from SUNY Binghamton University.
Her research interests and areas of specializations include Urban Sociology, Housing Justice, Critical Criminology, Surveillance Studies, Critical Race Theory, Ethnography, Black Feminism and Gender Studies, Caribbean, Black and (Afro)Latinx studies, World Historical Sociology. Dr. Santiago did research on the policing, surveillance and regulation of women in NYC homeless shelters from 2017-to 2020. Born and raised in New York City, Odilka Santiago has worked with the grassroots organizations Picture The Homeless on housing and civil rights for unhoused people. She currently serves as a board member for Think Dignity, a nonprofit grassroots organization in San Diego, California that serves and advocates for individuals experiencing homelessness.
