Sara Reedy Coutermarsh serves as Assistant Director for the Kearny cluster of the University of San Diego TRIO Upward Bound program. Passionate about STEAM education, Sara graduated with her M.Ed in Curriculum and Instruction and California Secondary Science Teaching Credential in May 2020 after teaching middle and high school science in Cajon Valley, Clairemont, and Linda Vista.
Originally from Northern Virginia, Sara graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and Policy and Marine and Coastal Management. Throughout her time at the University of Maryland, Sara worked with the U.S. Department of Energy and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in Washington, DC, and Dolphin Research Center in Grassy Key, FL. She has also served as an AmeriCorps STEM Education Ambassador, working with Title 1 schools in southeastern Connecticut, implementing Marine Science and Sailing curricula both in the classroom and after school programming.
