Institute of College Initiatives

The University of San Diego Institute for College Initiatives (ICI) delivers comprehensive college access services to over 700 talented and motivated students, the majority of whom identify as first-generation to college, from low-income backgrounds, or individuals living with a disability. Founded in 1999 by our inaugural Director, Dr. Cynthia Villis, ICI houses the TRIO programs at USD including Upward Bound Kearny Cluster, Upward Bound Hoover Cluster, Student Support Services, and the McNair Scholars Program. We are a team of dedicated advocates who proudly share the lived experience of the students we serve, partnering with them to succeed in college and achieve the fullest expression of their potential.

ICI is the proud home of TRIO programs at USD:
