We use the writing placement survey to place each student in the appropriate First-Year Writing (FYW) course at USD.
All incoming first-year students must complete the survey to assist them in selecting their FYW course and understand the expectations for college-level writing.
General Information
Students must complete the survey, followed by a writing sample assignment. At the end, the survey will recommend students' first-year writing placement and ask for feedback about the suggested course to make sure it is appropriate.
Placement
To ensure the placement recommendation is accurate, students must answer the survey questions honestly and take their time on the writing assignment.
It is extremely important for students to be enrolled in the right first-year writing course so they are set up for success on their academic journey.
