Melanie Delgado is Senior Staff Attorney and Director of Transition Age Youth Projects at the Children’s Advocacy Institute at the University of San Diego School of Law (CAI). Her primary areas of focus are transition age youth, foster youth, homeless youth and commercially sexually exploited children. She has been conducting research, writing, and engaging in state and federal policy advocacy in these areas since 2006. Melanie is the co-founder of Partners Against eXploitation (PAX), a cross-campus, interdisciplinary initiative at USD which focuses on efforts to combat human trafficking and exploitation. She currently chairs the Children’s Advocates Roundtable, a quarterly meeting of child advocates from around California.
In 2006, Melanie received her law degree from the University of San Diego School of Law, where she was awarded the James A. D’Angelo Outstanding Child Advocate Award; she received her Bachelor of Arts in political science with a minor in international relations from the University of San Diego in 2001.
