Robert “Buddy” Bohrer oversees the San Diego Housing Commission’s purchase of new properties for affordable housing development, as well as the financial structuring of acquisitions and the repositioning of SDHC real estate assets. He joined SDHC in 2022. An accomplished real estate and development professional, Buddy offers more than 30 years of industry experience, with a particular emphasis on land acquisition, financial underwriting, and entitlement for both residential and commercial development. He was previously the Director of Acquisitions at Chelsea Investment Corporation and has also held leadership roles with Wakeland Housing and Development Corporation, El Camino Encinitas Group, and H.G. Fenton Company. His professional achievements and affiliations include positions on the board of directors of the Building Industry Association (BIA), HomeAid America and the San Marcos Boys and Girls Club. Buddy received a bachelor’s degree in international relations and economics from the University of Southern California and earned an MBA from the University of San Diego.
