Current ASG Initiatives

Changes to the Associated Student Government Constitution include a new apportionment of Senators to include an At-Large distinction, the election of the Speaker of the Senate by the Student Senate, required office hours for all positions, a Chair of Athletics and the Athletics Commission, and the addition of a Judicial Branch with the ability to issue rulings on disputes within the Associated Student Government.

The grocery trams are the Student Life Committee's initiative aimed at helping students maintain healthy and nutritious diets by providing a free means of access to stores in the San Diego area. The grocery trams have proved to serve as successful resources for students, especially those who do not have a personal car or other form of transportation, to maintain diets outside of the range of what the school can offer them. Grocery trams are offered biweekly (with the exceptions of school-sanctioned breaks) on Sunday afternoons; students are driven at no cost to and from Mission Valley where they can shop at Target, Trader Joe's, or anywhere else in the vicinity.

For Spring 2020, Grocery trams will depart from in front of the SLP on March 15, March 29, April 19, and May 3 between the hours of 12PM-4PM.

The OZZI program is an ASG initiative in collaboration with other organizations on campus,  including but not limited to: the Sustainability Club, Changemaker Hub, and the Office of Sustainability. The OZZI program is aimed to provide a place for students to be sustainable and lead a zero-waste lifestyle, which is important for not only the campus-community but the broader community as well. It is offered currently in the SLP dining facility, however, it can be utilized at any dining facilities on campus.

Want to borrow a textbook for class? The ASG Textbook Reserve has got your back! The collection includes a select amount of books ranging $100 and up. This Reserve contains books across all disciplines, and they can be checked out by students for free!

Students can locate their textbook in the Copley Library Catalog. From there, you can reserve it and schedule a time for curbside pickup! An email confirmation will go to your sandiego.edu

• Each book can be borrowed for one day
• Once returned, they will be cleaned and will sit in quarantine for 3 days before circulation
