Whether you are applying to a master's or doctoral program, here are some helpful tips for going through the admission process as a DACAmented/undocumented applicant.

Tips for Completing Your Application

When filling out the online application, please use this guide for the following sections:

#1

Personal Information

Citizenship Information

  • For U.S. Citizenship Status, indicate “U.S. Resident.”
  • For Country of Citizenship, if no citizenship is held, indicate your country of origin.
  • For Legal State/County of Residence, indicate your state and county of residency, regardless of the legality.

Personal Statement

Please know that you are not required to disclose your status in your personal statement or any other part of the application or admission process. It is up to you if you would like to use your personal statement to discuss your status. Applicants who choose to do this typically do so to help reviewers understand their circumstances. If you choose to disclose, it will not be used outside the application process.

Please be sure to visit your program’s webpage in order to review program-specific admissions requirements.

Apply for Financial Aid

DACAmented/Undocumented applicants who attended high school for at least three years in any U.S. state other than California, and graduated from high school in that state or passed the state's high school equivalency exam or GED should submit the USD Dream Act Application to be eligible for financial aid.

DACAmented/Undocumented applicants who meet California AB540 criteria should submit the California Dream Act Application.

If you have questions about which application you should file, visit the Torero Hub for more information.
