Catalyst Research First

Catalyst Research First provides paid research opportunities for first-generation students during their first two semesters and summer at USD. Catalyst Research First scholars will also have opportunities to present their research at national conferences, co-author peer-reviewed publications, and participate in professional development and social events to foster the skills, confidence and sense of belonging to excel in their undergraduate studies and beyond.

More Opportunities at USD:

STAR and BURST Scholars

The STAR and BURST Scholars program is a 10-week full-time summer research experience. STAR and BURST Scholars receive a $6,000 stipend, $500 in supplies funds, and 50% off on-campus summer housing.

McNair Scholars

The McNair Scholars Summer Research Program is a 10-week intensive academic experience that allows promising USD undergraduates the opportunity to explore their research inquiries, work closely with a USD faculty mentor, and learn about the doctoral career path. McNair Scholars receive a $6,000 stipend, subsidized on-campus summer housing, and research supplies funds.

Keck Undergraduate Humanities Research Fellowship

The Keck Undergraduate Humanities Research Fellowship is an academic year scholarship for scholars to conduct original research, scholarly activities and/or creative work that advances the interdisciplinary humanities. Fellows receive a $5,600 stipend, $1,000 in supplies funds, $1,000 in conference travel funds, and 2 academic unit credits.
