Program Engagement

Eligibility, Program Commitment, and Enrollment

To be eligible to apply, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • A currently enrolled full-time undergraduate student (12 units per semester) or approved academic accommodations by the DLDRC.
  • A currently enrolled full-time graduate student (9 units per semester) or approved academic accommodations by the DLDRC.
  • A current or former foster youth at any time during grades K-12
  • A current or former ward of the court
  • Under legal guardianship
  • Certified independent youth (unaccompanied/emancipated minor)
  • Experienced homelessness as a youth (under the age of 18)
  • Submit FAFSA application

Program Commitments

Each Torero Renaissance Scholar (TRS) is committed to:

  • Meeting with their coach once a month during the academic year.
  • Participation in at least two programs per semester is required. Programs typically last 1-2 hours, are held in person on campus, and often take place on Tuesdays or Thursdays during lunchtime.
  • Respond to TRS Google calendar invites with your availability to participate.
  • Respond to emails and texts within 24-48 hours.
  • Check-ins with Torero Renaissance Scholars Graduate Assistant (once per semester).
