Krystn Shrieve is the guardian of the University of San Diego’s brand. She named USD’s colors — Founders Blue, Immaculata Blue, Torero Blue and Alcalá White. And, yes, she truly loves the color blue and will rarely be seen wearing red and black.
Krystn is the author of USD’s Official Visual Identity and Communications Style Manual, which sets the standards and governs the university’s brand and visual identity. To build and protect USD’s brand, she is tasked with ensuring that all materials that bear the University of San Diego name are reliably consistent in the way they portray USD and its mission.
She’s a proud member of USD’s Torero Renaissance Scholars support team, which she joined to honor her youngest brother, who spent his earliest days in the foster care system. She vows to do whatever she can to help these talented students make the most of their personal Renaissance.
Krystn came to USD in 2000 and, even after nearly 20 years, still thinks that one of the best parts of her job is writing stories about brilliant faculty members, successful alumni, generous donors, and inspiring students — countless USD Changemakers who are making a difference in the world.
In her past life, Krystn worked for nearly a decade as a reporter and editor for various newspapers in the Southern California market, covering everything from education to city, county and state government.
