Senior Counselor, Recruitment and Admissions

Mya Belton currently serves as a Senior Counselor in the Office of Admissions and Outreach. She brings several years of experience in higher education admissions and student recruitment and is dedicated to creating an inclusive, supportive, and student-centered experience for prospective students.
In her role, Mya supports recruitment and outreach initiatives for SOLES by guiding prospective students through the admissions process and serving as a point of connection between applicants, faculty, and campus partners.
Prior to joining USD, Mya served in several roles at Columbia College in Columbia, South Carolina, including Admissions Counselor, Athletic Liaison, and Assistant Director of Admissions, supporting undergraduate and graduate recruitment while collaborating closely with academic and athletic partners.
Mya earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Sports Management from Tusculum University. A former collegiate basketball student-athlete, she was a 1,000-point scorer and two-time conference champion..
Outside of work, Mya enjoys watching basketball, staying active, and exploring life in San Diego!
