Nicole Manning

I went to San Diego State University for my undergrad while working as an administrative assistant within the government. I obtained a bachelor's degree in Sociology and have experience as a behavioral therapist in ABA therapy and teaching in early childhood education.

 

Choosing USD was a no-brainer for me. Although I took a lot into consideration before actually deciding which campus was the best fit, it was mainly a gut feeling. After touring a few campuses, I found myself feeling extremely supported by USD. Everyone I encountered on campus was friendly and engaging, it felt right. I was able to get my questions answered by speaking with ambassadors, toured the campus, and even sat in to observe a class. The connection and feeling like a part of the community before being accepted was sublime.

 

I am keeping an open mind to all of the possibilities within the Higher Education and Leadership program. I am passionate about helping people and recently restorative justice has been on my radar! Through my job, the restorative justice process has piqued my interest; as I continue in my graduate studies, I am intrigued by where these opportunities will take me.

 

I am currently working part-time as a Graduate Assistant in the Office of Ethical Development and Restorative practices. My responsibilities include assisting in administrative hearings, advising members of the Student Conduct Leadership Team, the coordination and implementation of the Restorative Impact Circle process.

 

There is so much to be excited about, but I would say it’s the opportunity to dig deeper into the details of higher education and leadership. I am also looking forward to studying abroad and completing the international requirement.
