Teaching Pathway Programs

Bilingual Authorization, Spanish Emphasis

Gain the expertise you need for an impactful career teaching in elementary bilingual classrooms.

What is a Bilingual Authorization?

Focusing on Academic Proficiency in both Spanish and English

Our bilingual authorization in Spanish can be added on to the Multiple Subjects Credential and prepares candidates to excel as bilingual educators in TK–6 settings. This comprehensive program readies future educators to work with biliterate and bicultural students within diverse classrooms.

By focusing on academic proficiency in both Spanish and English, specifically for bilingual or dual immersion classrooms, program participants gain expertise in Spanish bilingual education, theory, pedagogy and language acquisition strategies.

Earn both the Multiple Subject credential and the Spanish Bilingual Authorization.

Teach in English or Spanish Elementary classrooms.

Ana Lopez-Rodezno ('24) graduated with a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with a Multiple Subjects Credential and a Bilingual Authorization.

"I had a teacher who took the time to help me grow in English..."

When Ana Lopez-Rodezno started elementary school, she didn’t know English and was classified as an English language learner. After that school year, she reclassified all thanks to one teacher.

“I was able to fully participate in class. I fell in love with reading and learning, and it was all through the work that she did with me.”

It was that experience that made Ana want to become a teacher herself and have that same impact on students.

The Spanish Bilingual Authorization has four pathways available for two types of candidates:
